Restoring the integrity of critical infrastructure through epoxy spraying
In the Portneuf RCM, the Régie régionale de gestion des matières résiduelles (RRGMRP) faced a major challenge: rehabilitating several underground structures within its leachate collection network, located at the Neuville Environmental Complex.
These structures, exposed to a highly corrosive environment, are essential for treating the 30,000 to 35,000 m³ of leachate generated each year by the site’s landfill cells.
A complex context and essential infrastructure to preserve
The Neuville Environmental Complex is a strategic regional hub. It includes a technical landfill site, a leachate treatment plant, a sludge treatment plant, a construction waste sorting center, and a filter marsh. The proper functioning of its underground collection network is therefore essential to preserving the quality of the environment and meeting the requirements of the MELCCFP.
However, some of the network’s vital infrastructure—three manholes, a pumping station, and two valve chambers—were showing advanced signs of deterioration due to extreme corrosion caused by leachate. In this context, complete replacement would have involved major excavation work, which would have been costly and disruptive. The Régie therefore opted for a trenchless approach, entrusting the mandate to Soleno Service.
A fast, sustainable rehabilitation solution... without excavation
To give these structures a new lease of life, Soleno Service deployed its proven epoxy spray coating rehabilitation method. After meticulous surface preparation (cleaning, decontamination, and stripping), a high-performance epoxy coating was applied to the interior walls of each structure. This solution forms a continuous protective barrier that is waterproof and resistant to even the most corrosive environments.
This process made it possible to:
The benchmark in underground infrastructure rehabilitation
